A prospect can have a relevant problem without having budget approval today. A budget range does not prove that the product fits. Sales teams get a more useful handoff when they record these questions separately and let a person decide what to do next.
The worksheet below is not a financial eligibility score and should not be used to infer sensitive financial circumstances.
Capture separate evidence
- Use case: what task the person wants to solve.
- Constraints: stated systems, workflow and must-have requirements.
- Buying process: who evaluates, approves and implements, as confirmed by the caller.
- Commercial context: only the range, currency and period the caller chose to share.
- Timing: caller’s stated milestones and what could change them.
- Unknowns: unanswered or contradictory fields that need a person.
Ask without pressuring
Explain why a question matters, allow “not sure” or “not ready to share,” and do not repeat a declined question as if it were required. Preserve currency and time units: “₹50,000 monthly” is different from “₹50,000 total.” Keep the caller’s words and the team’s conclusion in separate fields.
A human reviewer should decide whether the use case fits the product and whether a commercial conversation is appropriate. Do not tell a caller that a budget answer proves affordability or that a qualification label guarantees service.
Worked comparison
Illustrative case A: the workflow matches a supported use case, but the caller has not identified an implementation owner. The next action is a technical discovery, not a purchase-ready label. Case B: the caller shares a budget but needs a capability that is not verified in current product documentation. Route the gap for product review and do not imply fit.
A useful qualification record makes uncertainty actionable. It does not eliminate it with a score.

Should low budget disqualify a lead?
That is an organization-specific decision. Record the stated commercial context and let an authorized human apply an approved policy.
